KV37 52mm Fader Variable Adjustable ND Filter ND2-ND400 - Ultra-Slim & Multi-Coated Nano-Klear
SKU: KF01.1386
I had researched the qualities and capabilities of an ND filter. What I did not like was that each 'level' of ND effect were a separate lens and to buy a range of them would cost money and add bulk to your camera bag. When I found this variable ND filter, at a reasonable price, I ordered it. I like that, with one lens, I can change the density quickly by a simple rotation of the lens. Where as, if I had a set of ND filters, I would have to guess what effect I wanted, select a lens from the set, screw it on and hopefully not miss my shot. True, for a tripod set up and all the time in the world, you could try different lenses and compose your shot but most of my work is wildlife and at-the-moment shot. A great addition to my camera bag.

Does leave a noticeable pattern near maximum darkness. From 0% to about 80% it's clean, but above 80% light reduction it will quickly become rather unusable. At 90%, it does become very obvious.

Great ND filter to have for those sunny days. Using it in my Sigma 1.4mm lens and it helps produce some stunning shots in bright sunny days. Made of good quality materials.

I wanted a gradient filter for my telephoto lens. I'm new at basic photography as I cautiously venture beyond auto-everything mode. This filter works great for my purposes! I like the rotation feature to change the tint. Super cool and no fiddling with a box of filters! I am taking a lot of outdoor pictures while hiking and this filter is exactly what I needed! It's very well made too.

I received this filter in good condition and on time. quality seems good. This was my first experience with a neutral density filter, which I used during the August 21, 2017 solar eclipse. I mainly used it as extra protection as I also used a cheap sun filter. I look forward to experimenting with this as it offers a variation in light. To do anything with direct sunlight you need a stronger ND filter than this. It worked well during totality (2min 36sec) even though we had clouds so I was able to experiment a little with the variable filter without the sun filter. However, I have attempted to give this only limited time to experience the greater effects of totality.
