How awesome that they have combined a VND with a CPL in one filter here. How often will a photographer use both a CPL and VND shooting beach / water scenes on a bright, sunny day? Um, only all the time! I simply can't gush enough about how useful this is to have both in one filter.

I got it in 82mm to fit my Canon 24-70 f2.8 II, which has an 82mm filter ring. The threads are cleanly machined, and it works very well on this lens, and with the VND / CPL combo, I can actually shoot at f2.8 sometimes. That's pretty impressive on a bright sunny day. And even get a little motion blur. This filter is worth every penny they're asking. 5 stars.

I originally ordered a different filter that wasn't this "True Color" version, and it really threw the overall white balance off on my camera. I found myself trying to change a lot of colors to get it to look just right, but THIS true color ND filter was PERFECT! It was crystal clear and made my colors pop. I took it on a trip to Costa Rica for the last few weeks and the 1-5 stops were absolutely perfect. Whether I was filming our hikes in the jungle and experienced lower-light conditions, or whether I was filming surfing at the beach, I never needed to go any darker. I can't think of a better word than "Perfect" to describe this filter. I also love the little orange dials, they make it so easy to control. Sure, if you're constantly adjusting the outer ring for the normal ND adjustment, the polarizing ring also moves a little with it, but it's not really an issue I had any problem with. Love this.

Normally K & F products usually represent an example of a good product at a good price, but in this case they have gone one step further, and even maintaining a good price, the result is an extraordinary product.

In this model, color reproduction is excellent, avoiding the yellowing effect of other similar filters. In addition, its frame has a self-locking system that prevents the appearance of the "X" pattern when high values of neutral density are used. It stands out for its absence of color casts, even in the darkest neutral density settings.

Made of premium Japanese optical glass and with 28 layers of nano coating on both sides, it effectively reduces reflections and ghosting. In addition, its hydrophobic, anti-scratch and anti-fog treatment guarantees a clear image free of imperfections.

Unlike other models, it allows you to rotate the polarizer independently of the neutral density setting, offering total control over the image.

Nice filter. Tested on a Canon 24-105 L lens. Lens cap fits fine, but the hood is a no go-either before or after applying the filter. Easy to use, good damping on the adjustments, stay where you put them, threaded on as good or better than any filter I've used. Biggest issue for me is having this with me when I need it. I expect this was designed by a waterfall guy. Can’t wait to try it when the weather breaks and I can finally get out to one. I had the best experience using a CPL when I was at Yosemite. Don't go there without one. This combo will be just the ticket when I return.

This is really cool, I used to carry some ND filters and a polarized filter, but now I got both in one unit

The adjustments are easy to make independently, but you may need to hold the ring.

The finish is good, very professional look.

Complete in its own two-tone faux-leather case with locking magnetic lid, K&F are stepping up their game with their Nano-X line of filters.

This circular polarizer combined with a variable density filter (up to five stops) is built to the highest optical and mechanical standards. It's a first class filter with 28 layers of multi-coating to reduce flare and protect the surface. You won't be disappointed.

I have been universally happy with the 8 K&F products I have purchased so far, so I was excited to try out their True Color Variable ND CPL filter.

Like my other K&F products, the build quality is very high - probably their best yet. The filter rotates very smoothly with just the right amount of resistance to be assured it will stay where you set it. Unlike other variable NDs, this one has orange coloured tabs sticking out that make it easy to turn. It is even labelled, in very small print, to show how much ND it is set to - from 1 to 5 stops. If you are used to how NDs are named in the film production world, this variable ND goes from ND 0.3 to ND 1.5. ND 1.5 in my experience is about as high as we ever use on set.

I didn’t realize this until after a few weeks of using this filter, but the “CPL” in the product name actually refers to Circular Polarizer. This is the first and only variable ND I have ever seen that you can also use as a fully-adjustable polarizer filter as well! All variable NDs use two polarizers to darken the image, but the K&F actually lets you rotate the pola independently of the ND setting. Amazing!

This variable ND also beats any others I have used because it does not add any colour shift to your image, even at the strongest ND setting, AND it does not suffer from the black cross effect that most other VNDs give you.

At $119 Canadian dollars as I write this, it is not an inexpensive filter, but you definitely get what you pay for with optical glass. If you care about image quality, it just does not make sense to put cheap glass in front of your expensive lenses.

Very Highly recommended!

This is a really well-made filter and does a great job as a variable ND filter. The manufacturer provides a strong warranty and I'm happy with the purchase.

Now, about the packaging. There's a lot of it and it can't be inexpensive. The unit comes in a very nice box. I hated tossing it away. In the box is a leather case, also well-crafted. I'd have to think that this adds a dollar or two or three to the total price. I would have been happy with a lint free microfiber bag. I would protect the filter and fit better in my case. Maybe reduce the price a bit.

K&F are renowned for producing high quality photographic filters and the True Color variable ND (“VND”) with a strength of 2 – 32 (i.e. 1 – 5 stops) filter is no different.

I ordered the K&F VND for video work rather than stills photography where having the 1 – 5 stops is perfect for keeping the 180 degree shutter rule when I am out shooting run and gun style. The K&F VND filter negates the need to having to mess around with having to swop out several filters which is ideal for my shooting style.

The build quality of the K&F VND is superb. It is made from top quality materials that are well machined and nicely finished. The rotating mechanism is tight enough to stay in place and avoid being moved by accidental knocks but not so tight it is difficult to rotate. In addition, the rotating mechanism is really smooth, which is needed for neat transitions.

The K&F VND has a protruding tab, rather than the conventional serrated edges, which makes adjusting this filter super quick and easy. This tab means I can focus on the screen and what I am doing rather than fumbling around trying to change the setting.

In my experience all filters affect the image quality to some degree and the K&F VND is no different. The reduction in image quality is minimal when using the K&F VND for video work and it is barely noticeable, even when using the filter at the strongest 5 stop setting. One thing I will say about the K&F VND is that there are no colour casts, at any setting, so the “True color” in the product description is accurate.

At £71.99 (at the time of review) the K&F True Color VND filter isn’t cheap, and is actually priced at the higher end of the market. This is to be expected and I think it is always worth to dig a bit deeper for quality filters to maintain the best image quality rather than use cheaper and inferior filters that are going to affect the image quality and potentially render the footage unusable. Using the K&F VND I can shoot with the confidence the image quality of my footage is going to be virtually as good as using no filters at all.

Overall, the K&F True Color VND is an excellent filter and one I highly recommend for capturing video footage. It is tough and durable. It is well made and has a smooth action. The protruding tab makes changing settings quick, efficient and fuss free. Okay, it’s on the expensive side but it is definitely worth the extra and very good value for money.

Great combination of my most used filters. I do a lot of automotive works, and having a good circular polarizer is a must for cutting down on paint glare, and the ND is great for getting the shutter to slow down for panning shots.
This filter is well made with clean optics, and it screws on and off nicely.
Easy to adjust and has a good range of ND.
I take this filter everywhere now, and it's my new favorite!
