I ordered this for my 3 year old for Christmas so he hasn’t used it yet but my partner and I were testing it out and ended up looking at everything in the house under this microscope.
You can zoom in and out and adjust the focus but the best thing is that this comes with 5 slides and a cute little storage holder for them.
This is a must buy and the best thing I’ve probably ordered in a long time! Thank you - my son will love this!

This si a really dinky and cute microscope. It takes one AAA battery (not supplied) and comes with a mini screwdriver so that you can acces the battery chamber! It comes with a selection of premade glass slides of insect parts and also plant cross sections and details to egt you started. The LED light that the battery powers is very bright. There is quite high magnification but it is set at levels so unlike a bigger, traditional microscope you can't get the same degree of customising and graduating your focus. However, this microscope is fanastic value. It is very small so slips easily into a pocket to take out and about. We ahve had great fun looking at onion cell walls, paper and all sorts of leaves and seed pods under it so far. You can look at all sorts of things under it up close on a flat surface. It is a really neat and impressive gadget. Great fun.

Absolutely not a scientific tool for anyone that wants to be pedantic about it. My stepson has recently got into metal detecting and as he’s young this means picking up every single bit of slightly submerged metal he stumbles across. He uses this as part of his “treasure hunting” to “inspect” his finds. Works really well for that. A perfectly (basic) functional gift to encourage STEM play.

This is one seriously good piece of kit! It's impressed me for all sorts of reasons, most of them will seem trivial, but added together they make this stand out.
It's a quality item, well put together, well designed, easy to use and made to last.
I can see myself using this a lot. Why? A microscope is more of a specialised tool, that you get out when you have a specific need. This though is something you put in your pocket and just examine things that catch your eye, when you're out and about! One of my photos captures the image you see of one of the slides when at full zoom with the light on.
For the price, I doubt this could be bettered.

This is a mind bending gadget. Pocket size -take anywhere. Build quality is solid. Comes with specimens to enjoy under the microscope. Some of the examples in this post are picturing one of the specimens (blue), wooden table (black), cardboard (brown) and a leaf (green). You can pretty much look at anything as long as you can place if flat. I looked at iPhone RGB LED and you can see them as they were 10 cm in size. This is thought through educational, creative thinking device. My 5 and 7 years old boys including me have a lot of fun exploring and learning about the small world. The 5 years old have a trouble adjusting the microscope due to lack of understanding of focus and zoom but the older one is ok, still require some help. I am caring this thing anywhere as its just mind blowing!

This is a nice and compact microscope that has enough magnification and lighting to be able to give you a very very close up view of everyday things around the house. It has a built in LED light to illuminate whatever you are looking at. Though for a good sight picture you would want a light shining from underneath as well.
It comes with a bunch of prepared slides, though I found the choice a bit odd. Wouldve been better to have a few slides of more common cultures or some plants. It would be much better if instead of these prepared slides, it came with some empty slides and covers.
But that being said, it definitely is something that’s a good microscope to introduce the micro world to kids. Looking at a grain of sugar, a hair, a leaf, etc.
Also, worth saying, this is definitely not a professional microscope, and you need to adjust your expectations accordingly. It is an amazing toy and at a stretch an educational tool, so don’t throw away your zeiss just yet.
