K&F makes quality photographic equipment at a modest price. I have been happy with their products in the past and this filter is no different. It comes in a sturdy box and plastic lens holder and three lens cleaning tissues in hermetically sealed envelopes. It screwed easily onto my broken Sony 24-105G lens, it also attached to the UV filter. It feels well made and has a knurled edge for an easy grip. The effect is pleasant and slightly painterly. I don't feel comfortable uploading headshots of people, but it softens the highlights in portraits in a nice subtle way, especially with strong edge lighting. 1/8 is very subtle. I would like to add that a blooming light source looks good most of the time. However, if you have a subject in front of the bloom, it can obscure the subject. You can see that a bit in my photo with the house light behind the rock. The bloom looks cool but if that was a model it would block her. I often add a glow or the variant called the Orton effect in the post. This black diffusion filter is cleaner in that it only affects the highlights. I have the filter at one when it affects only the highlights. I have the filter at one when it affects only the highlights. I have the filter at one

Lenses of modern digital cameras are increasingly trimmed for sharpness and imaging performance, which is of course good on the one hand, but also brings with it a dilemma, namely that motifs often appear hard and rich in contrast and pictures somehow lack a certain charm. To soften this modern "look" a bit, to make motifs a little softer, highlights to be diffuse and a little softer, that's what effect filters like the Nano-K Black-Diffusion from K&F Concept are intended for and are particularly popular with cinegraphs . But photographers also benefit from such filters, as portraits, for example, get a pleasant, somewhat dreamy look without losing too much sharpness. The diffusion effect comes into its own when a light source, such as a window or lamp, is in the field of view. At first you will have to experiment a bit to find the optimal filter strength for the desired look. The K&F Nano-K Black Diffusion ¼ I tried is, in my opinion, ideally suited for gaining initial experience, since the diffusion effect is already very effective thanks to the filter strength of ¼, but there is still sufficient sharpness and contrast . In terms of both feel and quality, there is nothing wrong with the K&F Black Diffusion. The filter is very well made and has a flat profile to avoid vignetting. The thread is cleanly worked and smooth-running. I didn't notice any noticeable color shifts or vignetting. Tip: I always buy filters according to the largest lens diameter in my inventory and fit the filter via step-up rings, on the respective lenses on which I want to use the filter. This has the advantage that you only have to buy filters once and even if large filters are of course a bit more expensive than small ones, it is worth it in the end because step-up rings do not cost much. It may also be worth buying a complete set of such adapter rings with different diameters.

I tested this product on a 24-70mm Nikon f/2.8 S lens mounted on a Nikon Z9 in January 2023. For my setup I used the 82mm version to properly mount it on my lens. However, I would expect other sizes to work in a similar way. The filter frame is aluminum and has a low profile, measuring just 3.3mm. I found the filter to be easy to thread on and off and there was no binding while using it. I have uploaded pictures from the unboxing to show what to expect when ordering this product. In particular, you get the filter and some soft cleaning cloths, which always come in handy. During my review, I mainly used the filter to rotate still images, did some video work but didn't upload that here. So what does it do? This fog filter provides a nice softening effect and diffuses light from smaller light sources, creating some cool effects that add character to your images. This is most pronounced at night, but the effect persists in conditions closer to daylight. My cellphone's picture was taken under studio lighting, which roughly balanced daylight, while the other three samples were taken in low light. For the split screenshots, the unfiltered images are on the left and the images with the filter are on the right. These are captured straight from the camera with no modifications as RAW files in Nikon's NX Studio software. The shooting conditions are at the top right of each image. I've really enjoyed using this filter to add a bit of style and character to my images and plan to use it for portrait work in the future as well as some creative shots. I wasn't sure what to expect at first, but I really enjoyed what came out of the camera. I know the bloom effect isn't for everyone so I made sure to capture it so you know what you're getting with this product. I'm making it a staple in my kit and highly recommend it if you're looking for a softer look with flare in your images or videos. to add a bit of style and character to my images and plan to use it for portrait work in the future as well as some creative shoots. I like this creative filter. If you want to take more dreamy photos, this is the lens filter for you. It is glass with a metal/aluminum body that threads on like any other filter. It is easy to thread in transverse threads, it is easy to attach. It has 2 sections that give you extra grip, but it's not knurled, it's just indented to make it easier to grip the sides. For the longest time I always thought the sharper the photo, the better the picture. After shooting with the filter and seeing the more dreamy photos, I realized that not only is sharpness needed in photos, but the incoming light is softened by reflecting the light hitting the flakes in the lens. This filter also softens facial features, making for a more appealing portrait shoot. This filter isn't for anyone, but if you want to take softer pictures and play around with some other options, this is great for you and affordable. This is the 1/4 nebula filter, so this is on the weaker side. K&F has the numbers 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 and 1/1, the larger the decimal the stronger the effect, so this is the perfect value to test and see if you like it, and from there to continue. The lens has been treated. As you can see in the picture it shifts the light green in reflection so it has some good coatings. It's water resistant and scratch resistant, but if you're using this lens filter while the sun is shining directly into the lens, I recommend use a lens hood, otherwise the entire picture will be washed out. I have this problem with all my lens filters, so it's not just something specific to this one. Final Thoughts I like this filter, it's nice, it changed some of the old ways of taking pictures and showed me that there are other ways to take pictures. I trust K&F, I have many other lens filters, they are great price and quality. I like to make as much money as possible and still get good quality. I recommend it to anyone who wants to change their photography. This is a nice extra kit. so it's not just something specific to this one. Modern cameras with good optics produce crisp, sharp photos. Every detail can be seen here. No wrinkle, scar or imperfection remains hidden here. Especially when you want to photograph portraits, this richness of detail is not always wanted. Unless you want to highlight the folds etc. as an artistic means. But if you just want to create beautiful portraits, this filter can be used. It mitigates those very weaknesses, if you can call it that, and produces beautifully smooth - if not fuzzy - results. The contrast is also reduced, which simply creates more beautiful photos from hard and cold light. The filter I have has the strength 1/4 and is therefore the second weakest. All of the aforementioned effects are therefore present, but not as strong that it seems artificial and maybe even kitschy. Sure, you can now say that such effects can also be done in post-processing, but you save a lot of work with this filter and you have a more analog workflow, which I personally like very much. In any case, the filter has already proven itself and is more than worth its low price. Especially since there are three good cleaning cloths as a nice bonus. I can't find any negative points, so I can give the full five stars here. Especially since there are three good cleaning cloths as a nice bonus. The “K&F Concept Nano-K Series Black-Mist 1/4 Filter 72mm” comes in a plastic box that you first have to figure out how to open. Even when you've mastered it, it's still cumbersome. There are also 3 microfiber cleaning cloths, individually wrapped in sleeves. I chose a diameter of 72 mm in order to be able to use as many of my lenses as possible with it using adapters. The filter has a corrugation several centimeters long on two opposite sides, so that it is particularly easy to grip. As the English name "mist filter" roughly translates to "fog filter", the filter creates an effect or mood like fog, especially with lights. In addition, this filter makes the skin appear a little softer. I'll start with the second point, with the skin: The effect is minimal and should be seen more as a positive side effect. Significant wrinkles/skin imperfections remain visible and only slightly lose their sharpness. It's different with lights. That is also the main purpose. Here the effect is very clear as the pictures show. The filter gives lights a glow or aura. The image with the sharp edges is without the filter and the image with the glow and smooth transitions is with the filter. Conclusion: an inexpensive Black Mist filter for beautiful lighting effects. Only the box is suboptimal. The filter gives lights a glow or aura. This is a very nice camera filter from a reputable company. It is made of high-quality optical glass with multi-layer nanometer layers of ultra-thin and ultra-light materials. The frame is very light and small compared to the other filters I have for my camera. This is a special effects filter mainly suitable for portraits to blur the details of your subject. This is a 1/4 diffusion/fog filter and the changes from a regular, unfiltered lens are minimal. K&F makes the same filter in smaller and larger gauges (ie 1/8, 1/2). So you have to decide what level of diffusion you want for your specific studio shoot/set. I thought 1/4 would be a good place to start experimenting with this type of effect. This filter also included 3 nice microfiber cleaning cloths. (It would have been nice if there was a resealable/reusable bag though.) The price is very good considering you are getting a quality multi-coated glass filter from a good company. In my various experimental shots I think this filter has a lot of potential for portraits and still lifes. I want to try it on macro shots too. Black diffusion filters make hard soft Scope of delivery: The scope of delivery of the K&F Concept Nano-K series Black-Mist 1/4 filter 77mm Black Promist 1/4 filter made of optical glass with 18-fold nano-coating, Black Diffusion Filter 1/4 for video recordings/ Portrait photography consists of: - 1x Black Mist 1/4 filter 77mm - 1x box - 3x vacuum microfiber cloths The filter is thin and can be easily screwed onto the lens. It can also be removed cleanly again. The filter has an internal thread and an external thread, so another filter can be screwed in between. The filter softens the image, so highlights are avoided in portraits. The contrasts are reduced For storage and transport, the filter can be stowed away in the box and is protected there. The three cloths that are included are great for cleaning. Conclusion: Beautiful, soft-focus, non-specific filter that has its quality, especially in the video area. The cleaning cloths are also of good quality. Purchase recommendation? I wanted to test the filter outside for portraits, but we've had a number of overcast rainy days this month. I decided to try it on a set of Christmas lights. On the first picture; no filter, on the second; the filter was used. I find that the filter has a softer appearance, making the light appear less harsh in a darker environment. The filter is well made, easy to apply and easy to take off. My lens fits on it without popping off. I tested it on a Sony 105mm lens with a Sony 7RiII. It will be fun to experiment more, in different environments, when the sun comes back.

Its K&F Concept filter easily screwed onto my lens without the harsh twisting noise of other filters I've tried. This filter is quite unique in my collection. I own many UV filters, but this is a diffusion filter. It creates a noticeable glow around light sources. It is a 1/4 power filter and produced more shine than another brand's 1/8 filter I tried. The filter itself feels thick and strong. You can really see the diffusion coating on the glass. Overall I am happy with this filter and it did what it was supposed to do. It creates a slight glow
