58 mm Variable ND Filter ND3-ND1000, Ultra-thin HD, with Double-sided 28-layer Nano-coating, Nano-Xcel Series
SKU: KF01.2007
The filters from K&F Concept are always very high quality. I have not yet had a gray filter. Therefore, I am pleased to be able to test this one.
Even the packaging is very high quality and the included leather bag is very nice and sturdy. The filter can be pulled out quite easily by the strap. The flap of the bag is magnetic.
Through the small orange handle, the filter can be adjusted steplessly very easily. The effect is amazing. It helps in a variety of lighting situations to adjust the exposure comfortably. I use it mainly in light situations where I want to shoot with an open aperture and the daylight is too strong for that. The colors in the image are not negatively affected by the filter.
Great filter at a decent price. 5 stars from me.

I had never used an ND3-1000 filter before.
I had watched a few YouTube videos before the test and then put it to the test myself. In any case, really a house number.
The quality of the workmanship has already convinced me in any case, the feel is really great and it is easy to attach. I would see myself in the semi-professional area or in the very high amateur area.
The sharpness is an upscale good, maybe very good.
Adjusting the filter with the handle is very smooth and fluid. You can even adjust the filter continuously, really very nice.
Even I, as someone who is not a professional in this field, am convinced.

I ordered this K&F Nano X-Series Variable ND Filter ND3-ND1000 (52mm) for my ""always on lens"".
The filter arrives very nobly packaged, including leather bag at home.
I tested the filter on my 28/2.8, it screwed on without any problems, also the adjustment of the strength works great due to the very pleasant resistance and the integrated nose. The filter does not produce color casts or image errors. The ND3-ND1000 is a perfect companion for me for open aperture photography in daylight/sunshine to long exposures, so it is very flexible for me to use.
I can definitely recommend this filter due to its very good quality (processing/image quality).
Many greetings
Holgi

I ordered the filter to go with my Leica Q2, on which it fits perfectly, of course.
The filter has a very high quality finish and does justice to the Q2.
ND1000 I find already very nice for great effects such as an almost empty city hall market at noon.
From me there are 5 stars.

I had other filters before, but normal ones with a fixed aperture.
Post-processing is always necessary with such photos. Small dust spots, white balance or something similar always happens.
This is also the case, of course. In the first half of the range I have the typical image and the typical post-processing.
But in the last half, unfortunately, there is a lot of vignetting and color shifts. You can get that processed, but just with a lot of effort. For me, this is too much.
In the end, I still give four stars because the first part of the range works as expected. In addition, the workmanship is really very good. In the end, though, I would still prefer to go with two filters with a fixed aperture.

Anyone who likes to take pictures knows what you use an ND filter for. Since my focus is landscape photography I can't help but work with such filters. I ordered this one from K&F for my full frame camera.
I was tired of filling my backpack with ND filters of different strengths. The Nano-X was just what I needed. I ordered it in the size 52 mm. I then work with step up rings to be able to use it on smaller lenses.
To say it right away: The optical quality and the quality of the images has convinced me! The workmanship is excellent and very successful. The lens thread is top clean cut.
The filter is adjustable from ND 3 to ND 1000. The larger steps (f stops) are marked on the ring and easy to read. So you know what you have set.
The 52 mm. Filter brings 28 gr. on my kitchen scales. Everything is solid and feels very good. The setting runs well with slight resistance. This is how it should be.
The optical quality is absolutely flawless and even in difficult lighting conditions the filter delivers top. Chromatic aberration or color gradients into the green, magenta or anywhere else I have not been able to determine even when pixel peeping. Even with foliage or fir trees in backlight and with reflections from dew, the quality of the filter is unsurpassed. Finally a ND filter that does justice to my limited lenses and the full-frame sensor. The frame thickness with thread is only 10 mm. Without thread 0.75 mm. So I can use the filter on wider angle lenses without edge shading.
Thanks to the screwed handle and the ribbing of the ring, the filter can be adjusted very sensitively.
Conclusion:
K&F Concept has delivered a top filter. What's the use of spending thousands on lenses, but then bad filters make work difficult or lead to lousy results? From me clear 5 stars. I hope this is useful for your purchase decision. Also the price is relative since you save at least 4 ND filters.

Packaging and shipping
The ND filter arrived super packaged, the ND filter is delivered in a fancy box that looks really classy.
In the box is a small leather bag in which is the variable ND filter.
Really excellent, here the filter always has top protection.
Quality and function
For the quality of K&F you do not have to say much, which is excellent.
I now already have tripod from the manufacturer and a graduated filter set and am always thrilled.
About the function, I made a small video that you can see how the filter changes when turning.
I find the idea excellent with the small lever so can easily make the filter lighter or darker.
My other filters I had name I do not want to call here, has turned at some point the whole filter with and lay in the dirt and the glass was cracked.
This is now a thing of the past, high praise for this great invention since the photographing is much more fun.
My conclusion, from me there are 5/5 stars
Thank you that I was allowed to test this great product.

The products from K&F are simply always insane. The quality is convincing across the board. I can easily adjust the aperture stops with the filter and that with an absolute top imaging performance. What more could you want. The filter is definitely worth the money!
Photo examples I have just unfortunately not, but such filters are used, for example, to represent the water blurred / soft, if the exposure time is too long and thus the image would be too bright. With all filters you have to be careful not to screw them too tight. If it is very cold or extremely warm, then you sometimes have problems to remove the filters. That will also be the case with this one.

I think something like this is good. A variable filter. It's enough for me as a hobby photographer.

What does a photographer do when they want to create a look for a photo session and that look requires multiple shooting angles.... but you only have one ND filter for one of your 82mm lenses?
... get another ND filter, of course.
Yes yes... I know, it was a cheesy way to start (but a very real problem we ran into a few months ago).
The fact is, I honestly don't know what's happened to K&F in the last few years, but they've gone from being "Oh.... Another filter manufacturer" to a "Wow... that's a fantastic result!!! Who makes this filter? '
This filter is NOT an exception to the above.
ND filters are often a double edged sword for photographers.... They work and they do what you want them to do.... sort of.
They tend to add color shift to your images, distortion if you have cheap glass, and they can often move your camera to the point where you have to manually adjust the shutter control... which leaves you taking photos after trial and error.
Also, when you use an ND filter, especially for very long exposures, you have to fight the light, so to speak. As the light of the day changes, so do your exposures.... and while you do a lot of trial and error, a 5 minute exposure at noon won't produce the same result at 5pm, so it's not like you can "set it and forget it" so to speak.
If you then add the word "variable" to the equation, things tend to get even weirder. When you adjust the ND, you often experience strange streaking, sudden fluctuations in exposure as you adjust the ring, AND that doesn't even take into account that so many ND filters have very loose adjustment rings that (I kid you not) can sometimes change their setting when a strong breeze blows.
This filter... IMPRESSIVE... I can honestly say that I have none of the above problems. There IS still a slight color shift, but it's consistent and doesn't change when you increase or decrease the ND level. Also, the levels are smooth and clear, and there doesn't seem to be any distortion... which is extremely shocking to me.
Also... there is NO rattle or looseness in the ring, which makes me happier than it should, to be quite honest.
The adjustment putter makes it easier to adjust without getting your fingers on the edges of the lens (makes it easier to adjust if you need to turn up or back depending on the light... this is especially helpful with video).
I really only have 3 complaints, and they are extremely minor.
1st) As with any filter, I would really like to see K&F either add a magnetic mount option or add a filter tool to make it easier to turn on and off. I know someone will say that the "putter" makes it easier, but I don't trust putting pressure on a free-floating multi-piece filter.
2nd) The case it comes in is different from the other Nano-X series cases. It's more of a leatherette type, whereas some of the others are more suede/denim style.
3rd) Threaded front element. I know some people will say, 'You NEVER stack filters!!! '. Yes, well, there are a large number of photographers who do.... if you don't want to, fine... but don't argue against any possible functionality.
It works amazingly well and does not interfere with the image I want to capture. So the "complaints" above are more of a wish list than anything else.
Definitely recommend.
