I haven't used magnetic filters yet. It's really nice to have that. I didn't realize how convenient it would be to not have to screw filters in and out every time I wanted to change something.
This lens's diffusion effect is easy to spot if you're looking for it, but subtle enough that it doesn't draw attention to itself. I was concerned at first that it might be too much, but I like the results. I didn't notice any color cast either. Very nice filter. Does the job well.

So I think a lot of people involved in video products are very familiar with the Tiffen Black Pro Mist filters. This is K&F's version of this filter. I'll elaborate on what I think about the filter, but you can also judge for yourself in one of the pictures in this review where I show you the same image; the first without filter then with the filter.
One of the results you get with such a filter is the blooming of the highlights. This filter does that pretty well. Comparing the bloom to the Tiffen line, I'd say it's between Tiffen's 1/2 and 1/4 strength, being closer to 1/4. The highlight fall from IMO was strong but natural. Remember that the light in the image fills the frame, so you're seeing this particular effect of this filter at its most extreme. You won't see as much flowering in a more natural environment. Take a look at the camera highlights. For me, the K&F filter had a big impact on highlight roll-off, which was very smooth.
The other effect you get with a black fog filter is slightly reduced contrast and slightly softening of the shadows. For me, I thought this filter did that pretty well. If you look at the texture on the camera handle in the image, you can see how that texture is just softened. Imagine shooting a person and you can imagine how much you could smooth the skin.
It also comes in a nice little screw together plastic case. Inside the case is this little rubber stopper that keeps the filter from sliding around in the case. I love the attention to detail here.
Compared to the Tiffen version of this lens at the size I got, which was 82mm, the K&F Black Mist is about $40 cheaper. I think you get good value for your money here. Can't wait to try this filter on some upcoming shoots.
I think K&F is moving into higher end filters and if this filter is an example of the kind of quality it can produce I can't wait to see what filter they release next.

So far, so good. It adds the right amount of haze to portraits to make it stylistic. It doesn't add too much in my opinion, and the image is still pretty sharp.
I've attached a test shot below that I took of a friend of mine in direct sunlight with a star filter and an ND filter (using this filter below).

This filter is the cinema. Its the perfect strength for any video work and photos as well although the 1/8 might be better for regular client work. Watching footage shot with this filter is an experience in itself. Quality retention is spot on. My only regret is not buying the 82mm so I wouldn't have to buy more than one. I would recommend this for anyone looking for that "Cinematic Look". This is it. This is the cinema.

Nice filter. Certainly useful in certain situations. Ideal for sharp lenses, especially without character. That brings some mood into the game. It's nice to have, looks well made and I love that I can put it on a lens and still use the lens cover over the filter when not in use. I use it on my Sony 18-105 f/4 and Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 and am quite happy with the result. In my images, the last image is the one without the filter, hopefully you can get an idea of what it does.

I've used this filter a few times for my creative photography and videography and I can tell you that K&F Concept has done it again.
I can't post images of content I've paid for due to contractual reasons, but this is definitely a professional filter.
I noticed no degradation in image resolution, no white balance issues, no vignetting or distortion when the filter was on.
It arrived in a fairly large protective case which I immediately threw away and it was bulky, hard and bigger than it needed to be, but I do own a K&F filter case (shown in the pictures, not included with the filter) which I use.
Whilst I don't like the carrying case this is a GREAT Black Mist filter, it feels high quality, assembly was smooth, it feels sturdy and although I have NOT tested the scratch resistance I have faith in K&F Concept products.
Great value for a premium filter, would recommend to anyone in the market for one.

Preferring the shot to post-processing, I tried this filter with the only light from an electric garland and the rendering was good, the light from the garland is diffused and softer.
I can't wait to use it for nighttime videos when restrictions are lifted.

This creates a very nice, clean bloom effect that makes every picture appear a little warmer and cozier. I have 2 shots with the filter and one without to compare. There is a slight green flare to the left of the flamingo caused by this filter. It's pretty subtle, but you'll notice it if you look for it. It's more noticeable on videos with motion because it's also moving. Since I got this mainly for videos, it's less usable for me.
It screws on neatly, and I really like the included magnetic dust cover. It's very easy to snap on and off, and it looks great on the end of a lens.
Overall a great effect filter.
