I thought I was getting some nice night shots before I tried a natural night filter!
This was shot from a cruise ship at sea, so I’ve got a glow of light around me, from the decks just above, that I’m shooting through/past to the moon, the result is I usually get a “lit up” sky that has an unnatural feel, and the moon may seem more natural in a white or cream, but it feels wrong or out of place against its background.
The natural night filter brought the two together so the moon and its background/the sky both feel more natural.
In an ideal world I’d find a darker location on deck, but, for now, I’m delighted with the results.
