The problem with it opening gives the feeling that it could fall because it could slip out of your hand and slip completely, nor does it provide any security in case the camera is stolen. An interesting detail that I noticed regarding theft is that the fastening system that allows you to detach the strap from the part that connects to the camera requires a double release, that is, it prevents someone from getting it can open it easily with two fingers.
