Lightweight, yet stable, good equipment
I have very long dithered with me whether I need a tripod at all, and if so, in which price segment I should strike.
In the end, I didn't want to invest too much money because I will rarely use the tripod, but I also wanted to get a certain quality and mobility.
The K&F Concept Carbon tripod from the X - Series described here seemed to meet this requirement....
The tripod is delivered in a nice, compact and sturdy Cordura carrying case. After unpacking, I was initially very surprised how light the tripod feels, and a little worried about the stability that would experience.
The worry is unfounded!
The tripod has a very high quality finish, all components are very neatly finished and fit together beautifully.
The legs of the tripod, which fold around the center column nice and compact for transport, are unlocked with a little twist of the rings on the legs, and can be easily extended. Another quick twist, and they're locked tight.
The center column is solidly made, and adds to the overall stability instead of detracting from it. Also, the fits on the tripod are very true to size, and the components sit neatly together without gaps or wobble.
The fairly compact 30 series head is also sufficiently stable, and is easy to adjust, but also locks securely when the camera is aligned.
My heaviest setup weighs about 4kg and is securely supported, both by the head and the tripod itself.
If it becomes necessary, you can also add extra weight to the tripod on the hook under the center column, for example in high winds, or very light cameras.
A nice additional feature is that you can unscrew one of the legs, and then even have a monopod that you can almost carry in your jacket pocket, at least in terms of weight.
Overall, I'm very happy with the tripod and the head, from the payload point of view I still have a solid margin, so even new purchases with more weight will not be a problem.
The low weight of the tripod is a guarantee that you also pack it and take it with you, that was an important argument for me.
The long-term suitability has yet to be proven, but I currently have no concerns that the tripod will do its job.
