Fine black Black Pro Mist filter
I have worked with K&F Concept filters in the past and generally had good experiences with them. These are good, medium quality filters at (usually) a reasonable price. I haven't worked with Black Pro Mist black filters before this one so I don't have a base to compare to but so far it seems to be working as planned and appears to be very well done.
In short, this type of filter softens the light a bit, creating gentle halos around light sources without sacrificing image sharpness or detail. Where I've seen the most striking effect is in images where there would otherwise be a lot of shadows and contrasts. Instead of strong contrast and strong shadows, the filter has the effect of lightening the shadows a bit and creating smoother gradients. Sure, this can be done in software after the fact, but it's a lot easier to do it at the time the picture is taken, and it's certainly a lot less work.
The filter is very easy to install. This is my first magnetic filter and it attaches to my camera as easily as I had hoped. The threaded ring attaches to the lens in the same manner as a step ring or other filter, and the filter itself simply snaps securely into place due to the magnets. Removing the filter is just as easy, especially if you want to leave the magnetic ring on the lens.
The assembly seems to be well done. I've had filters in the past that were poorly constructed and rattled into the frame when shaken, were slightly marred, or just felt cheap. This filter has none of these issues and appears to be well made.
This is a beautiful black Black Pro Mist filter. It's easy to install and use, and just works. I will be using it more in the coming weeks.
