Noticeable yellow cast, also filters out visible blue
I use UV filters primarily to protect the front lens and occasionally consider buying new ones if they are scratched after a few years. I have some from B+W, Heliopan and some cheaper ones from Hoya, for example. I can only advise against this cheap filter. You have to accept the cheap aluminum frame for the price, ok, compared to a Hoya HMC UV filter of the same size, which also doesn't even cost 15 euros, you notice right away that the frame feels tinny and also scratchy when you screw it on. However, the stronger grooves are clever for better gripping when unscrewing, which could also work well with gloves. There are two points for that, for the rest I would have given at most one. The coating cheerfully reflects in strong shades of blue. This is reminiscent of the cheapest compensation for example Binoculars for 20-30 euros from China, which the discounters have on offer from time to time. I have never held a UV filter with such a compensation in my hands. The filter also blocks in the visible blue range, which can be easily checked by holding it in front of your eyes, the image is noticeably more yellowish than without. If you shoot digitally with AWB, you won't notice it, but the thing isn't a UV filter anymore. It didn't noticeably affect the sharpness. But this filter goes straight back. For a small surcharge, you can get significantly higher quality filters. the image is noticeably yellower than without.
