I bought this camera as I was looking for a waterproof/ water resistant camera that I could use to take to the pool and snorkeling. This camera will do the trick. There appears to be a good water seal on the battery/ memory card slot. Taking practice photos with a TF card included card yields decent photos with good resolution. Going to 48 megapixels allows one to zoom in on photos to see good detail. To save space you have the option of going as well as other lower megapixels. I personally like to use 24 megapixels for balance of space saving and good resolution. With adequate light there's appears to be good color reproduction. Testing the camera underwater at home shows that it has good resolution underwater. Videos also comes out clear, and support playback for reviewing. Look forward to testing it under more activity conditions including and going to the pool and snorkeling. Overall this is a good value camera waterproof / water resistant with decent features. 18X zoom is digital but using a higher resolution let's one have decent digital zoom and crop. The camera is rated up to 10 M depth which allows for the activities I'm looking forward to doing.

I bought this camera for a cruise to the Caribbean. I didn't want to worry about using a waterproof case for my cell phone. This really did the trick! Takes beautiful underwater video and pictures. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Battery life was great, as well. Very easy to use. My only complaint is that the screen easily collects fingerprints. Overall, I love it!

The camera is a cool item.
The face of the camera can turn around to face you if you want to do a selfy, which is really nice. It has AWESOME 5 optical zoom and 8 digital zoom! If you zoom in on something it's pretty clear!! It comes with two batteries, a neck lanyard, a micro SD card, a lens hood, and a lens cover.
Another awesome thing about it has webcam function, so i can use it to connect to my computer.
There are different modes and features for you to create different pictures. But the camera does come with directions. Overall, it's a great zoom camera!! Good for selfies! And has pretty good picture quality. Great at focusing as well!!!!

I got this for several of the 52mm lenses I have. It threads on smoothly with no wobble and is made of nice, thick plastic.

One of these lenses is a 18-55mm zoom used on a Nikon DSLR with an APS-C format sensor. The manufacturer’s description says not to use this hood on any lens with a wider field of view than 25mm to avoid vignetting (darkening of the edges of the photo). The crop factor for Nikon APS-C sensors is 1.5x, so at 18mm this lens has a field of view comparable to 27mm on a full frame digital camera or a standard 35mm film camera which is usually used as the reference when describing the field of view of lenses attached to cameras which evolved from 35mm film cameras. Look it up to get a better idea of what I’m talking about if you don’t already know. I’m not that keen on it myself.

Anyway, 27mm is uncomfortably close to 25mm so I ran some test shots of an evenly lit yellowish blank wall with the Nikon to check for any vignetting. The camera viewfinder is not 100% accurate so I had to go with the actual pictures. I found no noticeable vignetting at 18mm as long as the hood was oriented with the two largest “petals” pretty close to 12 and 6 o’clock. I found that to achieve the no-vignette at this position, the hood needed to be screwed in all the way – meaning that the lock ring had to be all the way snugged up to the body of the hood. A partial rotation of the ring to secure the hood with the petals at the correct position was okay, but even a few full “backwards” rotations of the lock ring which prevented the hood being screwed down as far as possible started giving me some vignetting.

Even locked down to the right position to start off there’s a slight rotation of the front of the lens to achieve proper focusing (unless you have one of those expensive lenses that have internal focusing), but the movement is fairly minor and didn’t give me any trouble. You probably will have trouble, though, if you screw the hood onto a filter and then try to shoot at 18mm! If using a zoom lens you could cancel any vignette by just selecting a slightly longer focal length at which to shoot.

Apologies for going on, but the take-away is that you shouldn’t have vignette issues using this hood at 18mm on a APS-C format camera. Canon has a 1.6x crop factor which puts you even farther from the 25mm danger zone. If you have a full frame format digital or a 35mm film camera, you would have major issues at 18mm. So, then don’t use any focal length under the 25mm mentioned. Of course, if you are using a zoom lens, you can use it fine at focal lengths greater than 25mm.

I don’t need to penalize this hood by taking away stars as it seems to be well made and does its job very inexpensively.

The lens and features of the camera are high quality, with the picture quality and zoom being very good for a camera at this price. I like the color choice and portability of the design. The stabilization and autofocus is seamless and quick, which makes for good photos and videos. I also like how it includes a microSD card with the purchase. The software is easy to use and has a clean interface as well.

don't normally give 5 stars in these reviews but this lens almost made my old Nex 3 feel like a new camera. For taking pictures of people, it's head and shoulders above any other NEX lens I've tried (this is my fourth lens). Essentially, the f1.8 aperture lets in so much light that the camera (along with image stabilization) can use faster shutter speeds to get a specific shot, which means a lot less blur and, in practice, beautifully sharp images. The f1.8 aperture also defocuses the background of the shots, making for simpler compositions that emphasize the main subjects in the frame. Also unlike many fast Primes, this pen is sharp down to F1.8. Of course, the 75mm equivalent focal length makes this a single-purpose lens, but don't let that put you off - it's a purpose that most people will need plenty of, and there's nothing wrong with doing one thing well. Here is a real example: Last year I went to a wedding. A nice occasion but the ceremony was indoors and it was a dull gray day. I used the stock zoom lens that came with the Nex (the 18-55mm) and none of my images came out all day; they were all blurry because people were moving too fast and I couldn't react in time to catch fleeting moments and that was because the zoom lens can only do about f5 at its 55mm zoom end and in any case it is on this one Focal length not very sharp. Last weekend we celebrated my little son's christening. A nice occasion but the ceremony was indoors and it was a dull gray day. I used this lens and every single one of my photos came out perfect - beautiful. No need for flash, no need for high ISO. I was even happy to set the camera to the default settings and let my friends take photos for me because I trusted the lens to get a good picture. I've never done that before! One thing I've found is that I have to go a step further backwards than I'm used to because the lens can't focus close-up. You must be a few feet away from your subject. In every other respect, this is the best money I've invested in photography since buying the camera. I was nervous about buying this as it's more expensive than the entry-level lenses in the Nex range. It turns out there's a very good reason for the difference - it just has a much better "success rate" for getting the right photo first time than any other lens I've used; it complements the money I originally invested in the Nex camera and adds another dimension it didn't have before.

bought this lens on recommendation. I was nervous about buying a single focal length lens because I used the zoom all the time on my old camera. It has proven to be my favorite lens. After learning its limitations, I also learned how versatile it is. This lens takes great sports pictures. It opens wide enough to let in enough light even in a dimly lit gym. A side effect of this is that it only focuses on a thin piece. As a result, my sports pictures draw attention to what is happening. It's not exactly the "bokeh" of portraiture, but it's effective. When the subject is close, I can get a real "bokeh" as the background. There are some limitations with this lens. For one thing, it fares poorly with images of the action at the gym. The athletes develop a kind of halo around every white in their uniforms. I don't notice this with outdoor photography so I'm wondering if it has to do with the lighting in the gym? This lens also has autofocus, which is a bit too slow for fast action. I have to be reasonably good at predicting what's going to happen, otherwise the plot might not be in focus. However, lack of zoom is not a limitation. Instead, I've learned to be creative about where I position myself for images. I also learned that when this lens is attached to a good camera, I can crop images and still get good results. In landscape photography, this is a great lens when I have a specific subject: a waterfall, church, etc. It's bad for broader landscapes, especially when they're large. I live in North Dakota, so my landscapes are often large. In these cases, a wide-angle or zoom lens seems to work better. However, if you want a truly versatile lens, this 50mm lens is a great tool to have in your pocket.
