I dreagged out a rescued-from-the-trash 102mm el-cheapo refractor, clamped the camera on its eyepiece, and quickly focused on a fake windmill three miles away. I also tried shooting right into the low-angle sun glare in the ocean and the camera didn't blink (like I did)--the automatic gain control took it in stride. Mind you, the telescope made things seem close, not the camera--all it does is replace your eye. This is good because that means you can clamp it onto anything you might look through, such as a riflescope or microscope, or even just point it out the window. Set up is a little fiddly, but if you've hooked up a camera with its own WiFi hotspot it will be a snap.
