I almost returned it
I almost returned it when I found out my lens came with a complimentary $50 Sigma lens UV filter. The optics on it are wonderful, but I'm about to go to Niagara Falls and I imagine I don't want to marry my lens cloth.

I thought - why not just test them both under the sink before sending it back? So glad I did!

As if by magic, this K&H filter drains and all the water disappears. The free Sigma filter? It sucks the water! And it's hard to get off!

If you received a free high-quality UV filter and stay dry 24/7, no upgrade is needed. Do you value versatility in all weathers? Buy this now!

Very good workmanship
First of all: you should always install a UV filter just to protect the outer lens from dust, sand, grease, water and dirt, unless you only work indoors. At least I am one of those people who have a UV filter screwed onto every lens. This can be easily removed and cleaned if it gets dirty, and even replaced if necessary, but the lens cannot. The UV filter also improves the light and color representation when taking pictures outdoors, e.g. in the sky or in trees and leaves. The thread diameter of the lens is usually printed on the lens. About the product: Flawless glass, no inclusions or defects visible. High-quality metal design, practical grooved edge (fine). Pleasantly thin (5.3 mm with, 3.2 mm without thread) Multi-coated glass, 18 layers is a very good value. I have used UV filters from Gobe, Hoya and Rollei so far and would rate this product as very good and high quality. The price is also ok, you should budget 10-20 euros for a good UV filter.

Good, with some minor weaknesses
Actually, you don't need a UV filter anymore these days, because camera manufacturers have been installing such a filter in front of the sensor for many years. However, there is one application in which a magnetic filter is useful and practical: If you have already fitted your lens(es) with a magnetic filter adapter, then a lens hood will generally no longer fit. However, this offers the best protection against, for example, accidental bumping. Without a gel, the front lens is exposed. And that's where this UV filter comes in, but a neutral glass filter would have done just as well. Now, filters generally have a negative effect on image quality, the only question is how much. This filter is very cheap at around 20 euros (67 mm) and I think the quality is OK. Flares (backlight that leads to unwanted reflections within the lens) seem to be much stronger to me, but it depends a lot on the lens anyway and a lens hood is always better than a better filter, unless you can avoid flares or even use them deliberately. There are two aspects of handling that bother me: the filter box is designed for much larger filters (I estimate 82 mm) and does not have a suitable recess for this 67 mm filter. This means that not only is the box much larger than necessary, but the filter also rattles around in it during transport. Solution: use your own filter bag, in the right size. The magnetic holding force between the filter and the lens adapter is weaker than that between the filter and the front cover. If you take the front cover off, this UV filter is always attached to it. For 20 euros, this filter is extremely cheap, technically/optically OK, but in practice it does show some small weaknesses. The fact that you basically get protection that can be removed quickly and that you don't have to spend a long time screwing on makes the filter still worth recommending.

Outstanding quality
I bought this adapter to use Sony A-mount lenses from my Alpha 58 on the BlackMagic Cinema Micro. Am very happy with it. Nothing wobbles and there is no play. The wide-angle kit lens fits perfectly and the vignetting is not noticeable (logical! APS-C sensor of the Sony is larger than the 16 mm sensor of the BlackMagic). Lenses with a fixed focal length of 35 and 50 mm fit just as well. The only thing I haven't tried is the 50-200 zoom lens, but only because I don't plan on filming with it. Overall I am very satisfied and can recommend it. Of course, it has no electrical connection to the lens, so you can't use LANC to control the focus. But that should be obvious anyway given the low price. For such tasks you use active MFT lenses or a booster, but I haven't seen any speed boosters for A-mount yet.

Surprisingly good
After having had good experiences with the Yonguo 50 mm, I also tried the 35 mm for my "second system" with the Canon M10. It's always a surprise how good these "cheap" lenses are. With an open aperture, the 35 has sufficient sharpness in the middle, which does not diminish at the edges either. The bokeh is nice and even. A little stopped down (F 2.5) it gets even sharper. The small minimum distance of 25 cm is pleasant. Of course you have to make compromises. The autofocus is loud and not as fast as a lens that is 5 to 10 times more expensive. On the other hand, it is quite reliable (not a problem on the M10) even in low light. The processing is good. It's plastic, but feels sturdy. And it's easy. In any case, it can remain as a fast normal focal length on APS-C.

Class for portrait and available light
Since I like to take pictures in poor light conditions (evening mood, technical photos, concert events) and otherwise like to do without the flash, I bought this 50 mm lens relatively quickly after the NEX-6 with the kit lens. I had previously found a number of sample photos and was pleased that the practical result lived up to the high expectations that previous reviews had given me. It's great fun to walk around the streets in the evening and to be able to shoot comfortably at 1/60 s handheld (ISO 800). The large aperture combined with image stabilization makes the almost impossible possible. A little leaning on a lantern or something similar and a steady hand have already made good pictures with 1/8 s possible. This is a great way to capture moods. The limitation here is of course the fixed focal length, which with 75 mm 35mm equivalent is a bit too long in normal living rooms to capture a party atmosphere, but is quite useful in the great outdoors/city or at concerts. Of course, portraits are also a fine thing. Due to the large opening, a very nice contrast to the background can be achieved. You have to be aware that the open aperture of 1.8 in the portrait distance can really only reproduce a very narrow range of sharpness, so it is not possible to take a pin-sharp picture of the head from the tip of the nose to the ears, but it has to be also not always be the full aperture. Anyone who likes to focus manually will notice a big difference to the 16-50 mm kit: the "translation" of the electronic, very wide focusing ring is many times larger than what is usual there. It can therefore be adjusted in a very differentiated manner, even in small areas. I am very happy about this purchase and can highly recommend the lens for the described area of application. If you are interested, there are practical "hobby" example pictures of my first attempts on the Internet at "Flickr", where you can find me under the name "bruderfranziskus".
